ALLE aims to lead this rethink and reset within the realms of our industry.
Though temporary, all these happened due to reduced human activity and pollution. As much as the pandemic has brought about devastations, it has also provided us with useful hints to what we were doing wrong and need to make amends for. We need an urgent rethink and reset to build a more resilient and sustainable eco-system – because saving nature is also about saving ourselves.
When the world came to an abrupt halt in 2020 due to the spread of Covid-19, we were being reminded that our lives and the eco-system around us are deeply interconnected. During this stand still, cities around the globe reported a mean reduction of 70% of NO2 and up to 40% of PM2.5 microparticles1 in the air we breathe. In short, the air around us became cleaner. There were less noise around us too2. River waters turned clearer3. Flora and fauna not seen before began to flourish again4.
